We have a lot to be thankful for here at OKCYU: Our youth, families, friends, facilitators, and supporters.

We will not be meeting this week due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Make it a habit to tell people thank you.
To express your appreciation,
sincerely and without the expectation of anything in return.
Truly appreciate those around you,
and you’ll soon find many others around you.
Truly appreciate life, and you’ll find that you have more of it.

This morning, Oklahoma City City Council voted on Councilor Ed Shadid’s resolution, 7 to 2, adding sexual orientation to the protected categories in the city’s non-discrimination policies for its public employees. As Brittany Novotny put it in her blog yesterday -The outcome of this vote is critical for the future of LGBT equality in Oklahoma!

Oklahoma City now protects anyone who might be discriminated against because of their sexual orientation in their hiring, promotion, and retention of public employees.

This is a huge step for equality in Oklahoma.

To keep up with the latest on this:

Conan O’Brien recently officiated a wedding between his staff costume designer and his partner. It’s very touching. I hope you will watch it. Mozel tov!!
